A Next-Generation Approach to Pilot & Production Scale High-Pressure Homogenization
The newly released ShearJet® HP Series V2 homogenizers represent a major advancement in pilot and production-scale high-shear processing. Developed through years of engineering refinement, end-user feedback, and real-world application experience, the V2 platform introduces significant improvements in safety, automation, data visibility, reliability, and process control.
More than a simple revision, the HP Series V2 was designed to modernize how high-pressure homogenization systems are operated, monitored, and integrated into regulated processing environments.
Below is a summary of the improvements introduced with the ShearJet HP Series V2:
Safety and Reliability
The V2 models include several updates designed to improve operator safety, system robustness, and overall reliability.
The system now features interlocked door panels and a fully enclosed pressurized piping circuit designed to contain potential spills or leaks within the machine enclosure. This added containment helps support safer operation while maintaining a cleaner processing environment.
On the HP1200 V2 and HP350 V2 Premium models, the feed pump is integrated inside the enclosure. This helps reduce system footprint, improve overall layout, and reduce dead volume within the processing path.
Process piping has also been standardized across the HP Series platform. Compared with the V1 design, the V2 piping architecture is more robust and consistent across systems, helping improve serviceability, reliability, and platform uniformity.
Data Recording and 21 CFR Part 11 Readiness
This next generation platform records and presents additional process data to the user including inlet, post Reaction Chamber and outlet temperature, inlet and process pressure, system state, hydraulic oil temperature, estimated flow rate and processed volume.
All data is presented directly on the built-in 7″ touchscreen HMI in both numerical and graphical format so you can visually see any variation in the temperature or pressure.
The user has the option to record all data locally to a CSV file and add product / batch numbers and user comments or notes or read all process data directly over OPC-UA.
In addition to process data, and alarm reports, all interactions with the HMI are recorded in an audit trail. This data is also made available over OPC-UA and the customer can optionally connect the system to their FTP server to automatically transfer data files.
The system has a built in user management that allows the end-user to manage user accounts and permissions directly.
The HMI makes 21 CFR Part 11 compliance easy when integrating with the end-user native data compliance systems. Furthermore, the ShearJet HP Series V2 system also is optionally capable of being fitted with a 21 CFR Part 11 industrial PC that will generate reports, audit trails, alarm reports and integrate with customer LDAP systems.
Other Improvements
Beyond safety and data recording, the V2 platform includes several additional engineering and usability improvements.
Key updates include:
- up to 20% increased flow rate
- integrated PID control for product outlet temperature and processing pressure
- standard mounting points for skid integration
- integrated handles and castors with settable leveling feet for mobility and positioning
- standardized sanitary Tri-Clamp connections
- four-color symbolic status indicator for machine state visibility
- configurable power input for 220V or 460V
- compatibility with 50 Hz or 60 Hz electrical grids
Together, these updates make the HP Series V2 easier to install, operate, monitor, and integrate into a wide range of processing environments.
A More Capable Platform for Modern High-Shear Processing
The ShearJet® HP Series V2 is more than a model update. It reflects years of practical experience with high-pressure homogenization systems and the realities of modern formulation, pilot, and production environments.
With improved safety features, expanded data visibility, stronger process control, and enhanced integration capabilities, the V2 platform gives users a more advanced foundation for high-shear processing.
For customers moving from formulation development into larger-scale processing, the HP Series V2 provides the control, traceability, and operational confidence needed to support repeatable results.
